Colin Shepherd started his apprenticeship in September 1980 as a dental technician at GP & J.Hendry
dental surgeons of Buckie, situated in the North East of Scotland. Throughout his apprenticeship he served under the guidance of his father Roy who was
the Chief Technician.
After 10 years he took up a post with Sandy Herd's dental laboratory also in Buckie. Sandy was well known and
respected by local Surgeons both as a highly skilled ceramist and as an excellent jazz saxophonist. After two years
of working in the Dental laboratory, Sandy decided to retire due to his failing health.
Colin then decided to take the plunge and realise his long held dream of owning his own Laboratory.
In August 3rd of 1992, Denturamics was born.
After the first year, Colin's father Roy joined, making Denturamics a family business, and when he retired five years
later Graeme Roy took the post of Chief Prosthetics Technician.
In 1993 Denturamics was awarded the top prize of £1000 and the title of "Most promising new business in the Grampian
District of Scotland" from the 'Princes Scottish Youth Business Trust'
The Dental industry never stands still and it can be very easy to be left behind. Colin has always
kept abreast of new technologies and techniques to try and provide the best possible service his small laboratory can
offer.
He has always encouraged feedback no matter how painful at times.
